Secret Fear (1997)

Everyone experiences anxiety at some stage in their lives but for an estimated 10 percent of the population, anxiety will become debilitating to the point of illness. In many cases it may lead to depression and for some, suicide is the only escape. This documentary focuses on the lives and experiences of several people who suffer or have recovered from an anxiety disorder, including renowned Australian actor Garry McDonald.

Using first hand accounts, which cross all cultural boundaries, this documentary uses expressive imagery which brings the trauma of personal experience into vivid reality. The film provides no neat answers but aids understanding of this often underestimated illness.
